AMSwitch consortium kicks off in Gothenburg

,

The AMSwitch consortium gathered at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg on 8–9 September 2026 for its first in-person kick-off meeting.

The event began with an open workshop on altermagnets, bringing together AMSwitch partners and Chalmers researchers for presentations and discussions covering topics including altermagnetic materials and heterostructures, spintronics, first-principles calculations, synchrotron-based characterization and quantum scanning microscopy.

Following the first AMSwitch General Assembly meeting, partners were invited on a lab tour of Chalmers’ Nanofabrication Laboratory and other labs being utitlised within the AMSwitch project.

The second day focused on the progress and next steps of AMSwitch, with partners sharing their first project results and discussing collaboration, communication and dissemination, data management, reporting, and plans for the coming year. The meeting provided an important opportunity for the consortium to strengthen collaboration across the project and align activities as AMSwitch moves forward with its research on altermagnetism and its potential applications.

AMSwitch is funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under Grant Agreement No. 101258102.
